My daughter couldn’t attend exam due to waterlogging in our street: Batla House resident

The not-stop rain for the last two days in Delhi has led to waterlogging and traffic jam in several parts of the city. In Okhla too residents are facing hardship due to no-stop rain with several roads waterlogged. In some places, according to residents, the situation is very bad due to delay in completion of sewer work in the locality.

A Batla House resident told the OT that how her daughter was unable to attend exam due to waterlogging in her street. Sharing a photo of her street and video, she said: “This is the current situation of Batla House Al-Taqwa gali number 3. Day by day it’s getting worst. Around four months ago work was started but it is yet to be completed. Residents are suffering every day. My daughter’s half yearly exam was today but she was unable to attend due to waterlogging in the street.”

Many residents have been marooned. After a video posted by the OT on its Facebook page of waterlogged street at Ghaffar Manzil entrance, many residents wrote that the condition of the area is pathetic as in many streets sewer work has been not yet completed. Be it Abul Fazal Enclave or Shaheen Bagh or any other street in Jamia Nagar, according to residents, the situation is unlivable. Residents said with the non-stop rain the situation has further worsened with streets muddy and waterlogging in several places.
