Ruckus in Dhobi Ghat by goat traders over these issues

A ruckus was created in Dhobi Ghat Goat market on Monday afternoon by some goat traders. Initially the cause of the heated argument between goat traders and some was not known, said residents who had gone to the goat market to purchase animals.

The ruckus continued for a while in the spot until police arrived. A goat trader said it all started after a goat trader objected to somebody (local) from not taking his goat and cash by force. With some engaged in heated debate over the issue, the rest of the mandi went on as usual with residents busy haggling for prices of goats.

From time to time goat traders, who mostly come to Okhla during Eid-Al-Adha from Mewat, Rajasthan and some districts of UP, do face hardship, said residents.

The biggest issue is that the whole goat market is chaotic with no facilities for goat traders who are forced to sleep in the open, said residents. A few days ago a goat trader complained that his two goats were stolen from the mandi in the night with miscreants coming in a car and taking away goats with them.

With rain, the situation of the mandi has gone from bad to worse as waterlogging can be noticed, said residents, who have been visiting the mandi to lay their hands on animals for the festival of sacrifice.
