Jamia Millia Islamia today terminated an Assistant Professor (Contractual) from the Department of Political Science after receiving information about his arrest following a complaint against him by a female at the New Friends Colony Police station, said the university in a statement. The university administration responded immediately by terminating his services from the university, stating that Jamia Millia Islamia follows a zero tolerance policy for any form of violence against women. Saheen Bagh residents woke up to news of a massive fire in the area on Saturday morning. The blaze which break out at a footwear showroom in the Shaheen Bagh factory outlet — a popular hotspot for Delhi residents — was eventually brought under control after hours of effort, with more than 10 fire tenders deployed. A delegation comprising students and faculty from the University of Applied Sciences (UAS), Erfurt, Germany is visiting the Department of Social Work, Jamia Millia Islamia from March 17 to March 27, 2025.
