Shibli Manzoor, a resident of Bhagalpur, former student leader of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), National Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Minority Department, and In-charge of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Minority Department, has urged the Bihar Government to immediately review the subject-wise roster for the TRE-4 teacher recruitment and ensure an adequate number of teaching positions for all traditional languages, including Persian, Arabic, Maithili, Pali, and Bhojpuri.
He said that for nearly the past two years, thousands of candidates who qualified for the STET-2025 examination in these subjects have been awaiting appointments. At such a time, allocating only a very limited number of vacancies for traditional languages is not only unfair to qualified candidates but also reflects indifference toward the country’s rich linguistic and cultural heritage.
Shibli Manzoor stated that Bihar is the land of Lord Buddha’s teachings, Mithila is a symbol of India’s cultural identity, and Persian and Arabic have, for centuries, been an integral part of India’s history, literature, administration, judicial records, and the country’s composite Ganga-Jamuni culture. Preserving these languages, he said, is not the responsibility of any one community but a shared national obligation.
Referring to concerns raised regarding Persian and Arabic teachers during the teacher transfer process, he said that equal, transparent, and fair treatment must be ensured for teachers and candidates of all subjects.
Shibli Manzoor demanded that the Bihar Government review the subject-wise roster for TRE-4 to ensure adequate vacancies for traditional languages, make public the actual number of sanctioned and vacant posts, and promptly appoint STET-2025 qualified candidates through a transparent and impartial process.
He said: “Languages are not merely a means of communication; they are carriers of our civilisation, history, and cultural memory. If traditional languages weaken in our schools, future generations will gradually lose touch with their invaluable heritage. Therefore, the preservation of these languages and the appointment of their teachers should be regarded as a national responsibility.”
