Jamia faculty member bags National Lalit Kala Akademi Award

Mahendra Pratap Dinkar, a Guest Faculty in the Department of Art Education, Faculty of Fine Arts, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has been conferred the prestigious National Lalit Kala Akademi Award 2023, the apex body of Fine Arts, Government of India. His art work titled ‘Nature Balance – 2’ Medium – Sculpture was selected by the jury for the award in the 63rd National Exhibition of Art.

The award ceremony was held at Kamani Auditorium on 28th August, 2023. His sculpture is on display in the ongoing National Exhibition of Arts in the Galleries of Lalit Kala Akademi, Ravendra Bhawan, New Delhi.

It is a matter of double joy for JMI that Mahendra was a student of the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts, JMI. His teachers and colleagues are very happy on his achievement.

Prof. Najma Akhtar (Padma Shri), Vice Chancellor, JMI congratulated Mahendra for the achievement and wish him good luck for his future endeavours.

While talking about his art work, Mahendra said: “As a sculptor, I prepare my plans in this way. I have prepared my work as an aspect of a source of nature balance. Where the whole world is playing with nature, due to which many types of epidemics and disasters are going to affect all of us. I am trying to use the energy of that nature as a message in my work.”
