Syed Jalaluddin Umari, who died in a local hospital on Friday at 8.45 pm, after prolong illness, was laid to rest in Shaheen Bagh graveyard at 10 am on Saturday.

As announced earlier, Umari’s namaz-e-janaza was held at a mosque located in Dawat Nagar at Jamaat-e-Islami Hind headquarters. It was in mosque where Umari delivered Friday sermons for years after becoming president of JIH.

A former JIH president he was hospitalised in Al Shifa a few days ago after feeling unwell, said Inam-Ur-Rehman who knew the religious leader and prominent scholar for years.
