Limit loudspeaker Azaan decibels, appeals Muslim body
The volume of loudspeakers that are used for calling out the Azaan from mosques should not go beyond permissible limits, according to a statement issued by IMPAR.
“It is our appeal to the management of all mosques in Karnataka, as well as in rest of the country, that they will adhere to the Karnataka High Court’s directives regarding environmental pollution caused by high decibel levels,” it said.
“Ulemaye Deoband and Nadwatul Ulema have issued advisories in this regard time and again. Darul Uloom Deoband has also issued a Fatwa in response to question No. 41093; Fatwa no: 1431/1053/D=1433. Moreover, it is expected of every Muslim to understand his responsibility in maintaining peace and communal harmony. Muslims should ensure that their actions do not cause difficulties or inconvenience to their fellow beings during the holy month of Ramzan, as well as in other months too. These directives are also part of the Islamic principles as elucidated by the Quran and the practices of the Prophet,” it said.
