A war of words and a showdown has begun between Asaduddin Owaisi and Okhla incumbent AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan. In a massive public rally in Batla House, Asaduddin Owaisi called Amanatullah a “dealer”.
In response, Amanatullah Khan hit back hard: “We will leave this Hyderabad-based person in such a condition that he won’t need to go back to any Muslim assembly for campaigning. He has weakened the Muslim leadership,” said Amanatullah while addressing an interactive session of the Muslim Intellectuals Forum, organised by former AIMIM Delhi President Kaleem ul Hafeez.
It was during this event that Kaleem joined AAP. Kaleem is a party hopper. Before joining AAP he was with the MIM and before that he was with the AAP.

Asaduddin Owaisi’s statement:
“The people of Okhla need to understand that the person who Kejriwal made his MLA here is not a leader, he is a dealer. He is not a leader; if anyone becomes a leader, it will be Shifa, Insha’Allah. When it comes to the law of Talaq, Kejriwal’s tongue goes silent when there is talk about the UCC. When the Delhi government Waqf committee was to be formed, he went mute. The dealer has no voice. When does the dealer get a voice? Only when lintel (a roof before concrete) is put, and then his blood-sucking gang comes in and files complaints. So, the people of Okhla need to make Shifa their leader, Insha’Allah. Nobody has to pay money to build their house. After February 5, the blood-sucking gang backed by the MLA will not be allowed to operate here. Many buildings were demolished — where was the MLA?”
Amanatullah Khan says:
“We will leave this Hyderabad-based person in such a condition that he will never have the courage to come to Okhla or go back to any Assembly in the country where Muslim representatives are elected.”
“He has finished our entire leadership, one by one, through his machinations. This person humiliates me and plays with our dignity. If you say anything against him, his entire troll media starts attacking. For the first time, Owaisi has come to Okhla, which is home to the most educated Muslims in India. We will not be misled.”
This is not the first time the election has seen a direct showdown between Amanatullah Khan and AIMIM. It all began when Amanatullah fired the first salvo, sparking anger within the AIMIM camp. AIMIM has nominated Shifa-ur-Rehman, a Delhi riots accused who was released on parole to campaign in the election. The other candidates in the fray are Congress leader Ariba Khan and BJP’s Manish Chaudhry.
Many residents have described the bitter war of words between Amanatullah and AIMIM as a sad day for Okhla politics. AAP leader Javed remarked that leaders should refrain from engaging in such bitter exchanges, as it tarnishes the image of the locality. Others have criticised AIMIM MLA Majid Hussain for using inappropriate language against Muslims. In a public rally at Batla House, Majid also berated Amanatullah for using negative terms against his leader, Asaduddin Owaisi.
