Due to demolition drive in two places at Okhla Head and barricading the traffic has been thrown out of gear with gridlock being felt up to Shaheen Bagh and Abul Fazal Enclave, said residents.
Commuters said unaware of the development they were stuck in jam for hours. Many were not allowed to drive on Okhla Head road as demolition drive was being carried out on TTI road in Jamia Millia at Okhla Head.
A high-rise building at Okhla Head faced the heat with another building also being demolished at Batla House road. The barricading and presence of heavy security force lead to chaos in the locality with residents complaining of traffic jam.
A journalist, who was on his way to office, wrote on his FB timeline that the barricade has led to long jam with many residents facing hardship. Due to jam some school buses too didn’t come in the locality with parents being informed to pick up their wards at Kalindi Kunj, said one resident.
Another resident she has been stuck in the jam for last 2 hours. “I came to the area at 1 pm for some work at Nai Basti unaware about the development. And it is 3 pm and I am still stuck. Now the auto driver is taking me via Okhla Vihar,” she told the OT.
