A well-known face on campus during his university days, former-Jamia student passes away
The death of former Jamia Millia Islamia student on Wednesday in his hometown Jalalpur in Barabasti, Uttar Pradesh, due to brain hemorrhage, has left the Jamia fraternity, family members and those who knew him in shock.
Abbas Ahmed Khan, 50, was laid to rest on Wednesday in his hometown after Asar prayer with more than thousand people, including Ulema from Deoband, attending his tadfeen, said Dr Zubed Ur Rehman urf Babban Khan, who was in the town to attend the last journey.
Khan told the OT over phone that Abbas died suddenly after suffering brain hemorrhage.
“Abbas was manager of Inter College Talim O Tarbiyat started by his father Israr Ahmed Khan years ago. He was a nice person and was working for uplift of the community by empowering them with education,” said Khan, who is also member of the TOT Inter College.
His death is a huge loss to the locality where he was sincerely working for educating the future generation after completing his studies from Jamia years ago, said Khan.
One Afnan Khan, a cousin of Abbas, said: “He was a very popular face on the campus during his university days (1990). Kamal Akhtar was his best friend.” A senior Jamia alumnus Nasir Sultan Qazi said he was my junior in the university.
He has left behind six children, with the youngest being just 2 years old, and a wife, said a family friend.
