Sisodia: Covid cases might be rising, no need to worry as we are vigilant
“There is no need to worry. There might have been a rise in coronavirus cases but we are vigilant and the hospital admissions are low. There are only six coronavirus patients admitted at LNJP hospital,” said Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia Saturday on Saturday.
Sisodia, is also Education Minister, said instructions have been issued to schools to follow the government’s Standard Operating Procedure if they detect any case.
He said a particular class or a wing will be shut in case of infections being reported in schools.
Covid cases in Delhi have been reported to increase in the last few days with the positivity rate also going up. On Friday, the city saw 366 new cases.
On Friday, the Delhi government said its home isolation system to be implemented if cases witness a significant surge.
“During the previous waves of the corona pandemic, the home isolation system proved to be extremely beneficial for patients. In view of this, if the cases increase again, the home isolation system will be implemented. At the same time, patients with mild corona symptoms will get better treatment at home. CDV teams, along with ANM, ASHA, paramedical workers, will visit the homes of corona infected patients and inform them about being in home isolation and taking necessary precautions. During this, the teams will assess the patient’s health and will provide home isolation kits with oximeters. Tele-caller teams will call in the morning and evening to get health related information of the patient. If the patient’s condition is critical, they will be immediately admitted to the hospital,” said Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain.
Also, in a statement, the Delhi government said oxygen capacity has been greatly increased.
“At present, the Delhi government has a capacity of 1363.73 MT of oxygen, including Liquid Medical Oxygen Storage (LMO), Liquid Medical Oxygen Buffer, and PSA Plant.At the same time, the medical institution has the capacity of oxygen cylinders of up to 217 metric tonnes. Apart from this, 6,000 D type cylinders have been kept in reserve for use in an emergency. Earlier, the oxygen refilling capacity in Delhi was limited to 1,500 cylinders a day, but now the 2 cryogenic plants with a capacity of 12.5 MT will be able to fill an additional 1,400 jumbo cylinders every day,” it said.
“Telemetry devices have been installed in all the big and small oxygen tanks on the orders of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. This will allow real-time monitoring of oxygen levels and will help in supplying oxygen as per the requirements in case of an emergency. Its live monitoring will be done from the war room, so that oxygen can be arranged in time.
During the second wave of corona, it became difficult to tell which hospital was given oxygen first and which hospital needed it the most. Keeping this in mind, the Delhi government has now reviewed the supply of oxygen. Since then, telemetry devices have been installed in liquid medical oxygen tanks in all private and government hospitals in Delhi.
“Apart from the facility of Covid beds, the Delhi government is also emphasizing the availability of medicines in sufficient quantities, to ensure that there is no shortage of medicines in any situation. On the instructions of Kejriwal, buffer stock of various useful medicines has been ensured in the treatment of patients,” said the statement.
