Wali Rahmani’s Man Friday & Jamia alumnus Mufti Ejaz Arshad Qasmi no more
Days after death of Sayyid Wali Rahmani, Sunni Islamic scholar and founder of Rahmani30, words spread today that his Man Friday Maulana Mufti Ejaz Arshad Qasmi too has passed away.
Three days ago he was taken to one hospital in Faridabad with Covid related sufferings and he died today at 2 pm, said Nayab Hasan. His body will be taken to his hometown, he said.
The news of his death surfaced on the social media as well.
A resident of Laxmi Nagar, Qasmi was born in Bihar’s Madhubani in 1977. After completing his Fazilat from Deoband, Qasmi did his graduation in Urdu from Jamia Millia Islamia in 2007-2009 and later on went on to study MPhil and Phd from JNU in 2016.
He was a member of Muslim Personal Law Board and grabbed headlines a few years ago when he was accused of assaulting a woman speaker fighting against Triple Talaq on Live TV debate.
For days the issued dominated the social media. Stories on his act were covered in the print media as well. Qasmi was even arrest to be released later on.
Urdu columnist, Qasmi wrote a book on ethics in Urdu journalism. “Overall he wrote seven books and used to earn his livelihood by running his own business in Delhi,” said Hasan.
During Sheila Dikshit time, he worked as publication officer in the Delhi Government, he said, adding that he was general secretary Deoband Old Boy’s Alumni Association and was active.
It was reported that a few month ago he called a meeting of Muslim leaders to discuss ways to bring all Muslim groups and leaders on one platform.
