Teen girl found dead with throat slit in Okhla, accused held
The news of death of a 16-year-old girl in Okhla has left residents shocked. According to media reports, the girl’s body was found with her throat slit on a cot inside her house in Janta flat in Sarita Vihar.
The accused was arrested after the deceased’s mother, a domestic help, alleged that her adopted son of 10 years, Shan Mohammad, was behind the killing, police said on Thursday as reported by NDTV.
The police said the victim’s mother accused Shan, 32, a liquor addict and one who often used to pick up fight with her and her girl, of murdering her daughter.
“During inquiry, the victim’s mother told that on Wednesday morning, she left for work as usual leaving her minor daughter and her adopted son Shan at home. When she returned home, she found her flat was locked from outside. She called her son on the telephone to find out about her daughter’s whereabouts but he gave a suspicious response,” the officer said as quoted by NDTV.
A case of murder under Section (302) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against him, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Esha Pandey said.
After receiving a PCR call on Wednesday afternoon the police reached the spot and found the body with an injury mark on her neck.
Several teams, which were formed to locate the person after the crime was committed with the accused fleeing from the spot, were successful in arresting him while he was on way of fleeing to Uttarakhand, they said.
Revealing the sequence of the event to police, Shan said on that particular day a fighting between him and the girl had broken over her conversation with a relative. Following which drunkard Shan slapped her and she also slapped him. Losing temper, Shan is said to have picked up a knife and slit her throat. After which he locked the house and fled, said the police.
“Mohammad confessed to the crime and revealed that he killed …in a fit of rage because she had slapped him. He claims he was drunk at the time of the crime. After killing …, he panicked and locked the house before fleeing,” added DCP Pandey, reported HT.
