False news of ex-Jamaat president Umri’s death doing the rounds: Inam

He wrote a few minutes ago that a fake news is circulating in the virtual world since Tuesday that Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri, former president of Jammaat-E-Islami (Hind) is dead.

“This news is totally false and based on rumours. I have just met the Maulana before Iftar. Maulana is in good health. Please do not pay attention to rumours and pray for Maulana’s long life and quick recovery,” wrote Inam-ur-Rehman, Assistant Secretary, JIH.

Also, the post shared by one Anwarul Haque Baig carried a photo of the former JIH Ameer.

After death of his wife a day ago, words spread in a popular local WhatsApp group that the Maulana too has died, said a resident, adding that Maulana is getting treatment in Al Shifa Hospital. His latest report is negative.

WhatsApp news has become a new madness among many as some self proclaimed intellectuals without cross checking facts forward it blindly, he said. It is sad to see that people don’t even care to call the JIH office which is just located in the locality, he said.
