    Round-table discussion on Students’ Manifesto held

    The Students’ Manifesto comprises pressing demands that SIO aims to prioritize in the 2024 parliamentary election. It highlights the following areas:

    Equitable Reservation: Advocating for a fair and just reservation system to ensure opportunities for all.

    Special Attention to Socio-economic Backward Districts: Focusing on the upliftment of marginalized regions for balanced development.
    Enactment of the Rohit Act: Ensuring justice and safety for students.

    Reinstate MANF and Enhance Scholarships for Minorities: Supporting minority students financially for equal access to education.
    Anti-Discrimination Law: Striving for a society free from discrimination and bias.

    Stringent Personal Data Protection Law and a Privacy Charter: Safeguarding the privacy and data of individuals.

    Environment and Sustainability Funds – 1000 Cr: Dedication to environmental initiatives and sustainable practices.

    Health and Mental Wellness Centers for Youth Across India: Prioritizing the holistic well-being of youth.

    Ensure Free and Compulsory Education from Elementary to University Levels: A commitment to accessible education for all.

    Employment Guarantee Act for Youth: Paving the way for job security and opportunities for youth.

    Women’s Safety, Salary of teachers in schools, Educational awareness in Minority concentrated areas, Facility of Libraries in localities were some other points raised by the organization.

    Clarifying the purpose of the manifesto, SIO President emphasized the need to address educational disparities and decreased budgets for minority institutions. He also underlined the need to unite students, common people, campuses, and societies to convey their issues to political leaders.

    Dr. Ilyas highlighted the threats to Indian democracy, pointing out that the government is shifting focus from fundamental issues to religious politics, with concerns about the diminishing secular nature of the state.

    The programme commenced with a Quranic verse by Ibrahim Khan (Secretary, SIO Delhi). The discussion concluded with the closing remarks of Imrul Quesh, SIO Delhi President. Student leaders from various institutions, including DU, JNU, JMI, and other prestigious institutes, actively participated in the meeting.

    At the end of the discussion, they released the manifesto.

    SIO Delhi organised a Round-Table Discussion on the Students’ Manifesto for the upcoming parliamentary election. Ramees Ek (President, SIO of India), Dr. Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas (Secretary, All India Muslim Personal Law Board), Salimullah Khan (President, JIH Delhi), Dr. Roshan Muhiuddin (Director, CERT), Adv. Zahid Hussain (Advocate, Delhi High Court), and Razi Alhasan (General Secretary, SIO Delhi) addressed the gathering on various topics.
