    First shoe bank along with toy bank opens

    SDMC today inaugurated Delhi’s first shoe bank in West Zone’s Subhash Nagar area.

    The shoe bank along with Toy Bank, Plastic Lao-Khad Le Jao amenities has been open up in a erstwhile Dhalao near Gate of Rajouri Apartments, opposite STP Subhash Nagar.

    During the inauguration, Dr. Sonal Swaroop, Dy. Commissioner, West Zone, Col. B.K. Obroi, Chairman, Ward Committee, Surender Setia, Municipal Councilor, Rajiv Kumar Jain, Suptdg. Engineer & Nodal Officer, SBM, other Senior Officers and other residents were present.

    During the ongoing Swachh Survekshan 2021, South Delhi Municipal Corporation is rigorously promoting 3 RS (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) by taking various environment friendly initiative like Neki Ki Diwar, Garbage Café, Geela Kuda Lao-Khad Ley Jao, Plastic Lao Plant Le Jao, Single use plastic free zones, toy bank, compositing from Wet Segregated Waste, Set up material recover facility etc.

    SDMC urged residents to donate old/new Toys, Shoes for children and elders, School Bags for needy persons. Generally residents throw old toys, school bags and shoes in the garbage which now will be used by needy persons. The main objective behind this initiative is multifold where on one hand citizen can contribute the old not desirable toys / shoes for worthy cause as they can be reused by needy people but it also encourages Swachh habits of reducing and reusing. This initiative will help to the needy school children and other persons who remain barefoot during summer and winter.

    SDMC said this type of initiative will be started at more locations and this will also help SDMC to achieve high ranking in Swachh Survekshan 2021.
