Watch: Batla House trader opens roti, kapda bank to provide clothes, food for needy

A Batla House trader opened roti, kapda bank on Sunday in the area to provide clothes, food to the needy. I have opened this roti, kapda bank for the poor in the locality. I have started this drive in the locality with the only aim to serve the needy. Old and new clothes are available in my centre. Nobody sleeps on empty stomach in the locality,” Md Yasir.

The opening of the centre was done by Yasir’s mother and father who were seen with local leader Mahmood Ahmed. A video of the event had also gone literally viral on the social media with netizens appreciating the move.

This is not for the first time that such a bank has been opened in the locality. One such kapda bank is operation in Abul Fazal Enlcave where residents put old and new clothes which later on are picked up by the needy.

Years ago, activist Aarfa Khanam’s NGO had also launched roti bank in which the organisation used to distribute food to the needy during night.

Yasir told the OT over phone that he wants the needy to needy of the locality and even outsiders to benefit from the move, urging the residents to contribute to the bank for the wellbeing of the poor.
