Jamia Millia Islamia has released the University Prospectus and announced the opening of admissions for the academic session 2025-26. The 145-page prospectus was launched online by the Vice Chancellor Jamia Millia Islamia, Prof. Mazhar Asif, along with the Registrar JMI, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, in the presence of the university Prospectus Committee members.

From this academic year, JMI has introduced 14 new courses aimed at enhancing academic excellence and skill development. These are Bachelor of Design (B. To attract more foreign students and NRI wards, JMI has reduced fees for applicants from SAARC countries, besides reducing fees for foreign nationals/NRI wards for Diploma courses under the University Polytechnic. 2 seats in the BDS programme (which admits students through NEET) have been reserved for foreign students. Foreign nationals applying for PhD courses at JMI can now appear for admission interviews online as they find it difficult to procure visas and undertake travel to India to appear for the admission interview as part of the entrance process requirement.

Other key highlights of the prospectus presented by Dr. Ahteshamul Haque, Deputy Controller of Examinations, on the occasion of its online launch include an increase in programmes which conduct admission through CUET and a focus on NEP-oriented programmes. Admissions to as many as 25 programmes (09 UG, 05 PG, 08 diploma programmes and 03 advanced diploma programmes) will be done through CUET Merit Score. This is a significant increase from the last academic session that had 20 programmes under the CUET admission process.

In order to make it easier for candidates, reduce travel to Delhi, as also to increase students’ diversity from across India, JMI has decided to conduct entrance tests for as many as 29 programmes across 8 cities of the country, including Malegaon and Bhopal.

Congratulating the committee and the Office of the Controller of Examinations on the timely release of the prospectus, Prof. Mazhar Asif said: “This year we have introduced a large number of new programmes that have been specially designed as per the NEP guidelines. We envision that every student enrolled at JMI must acquire at least one skill in hand, beyond the knowledge of the course curricula, to increase employability. We are also committed to enriching our vibrant and multicultural academic community by increasing the intake of foreign students. Our focus is to attract students under the G20. Besides, we have also brought down the fees for applicants from SAARC countries.”

Emphasising that from this academic year, JMI has given a big boost to the teaching of Indian and foreign languages at par with other eminent seats of learning, Prof. Asif added: “JMI has included a large number of value-added courses on Indian Knowledge System to its course curricula. We are working on offering many foreign languages with the active collaboration of foreign Embassies in New Delhi. The push to develop the teaching and study of traditional and Indian Knowledge Systems will remain a priority area for this administration. We are also focused on the overall well-being of our students. Towards this end, from this academic session onwards, we are offering more facilities on campus, like better IT facilities, sports facilities for self finance daytime students, and evening medical OPD.”

Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar JMI, commended the committee members for their painstaking efforts and deliberations over the last few months, which made possible the timely launch of the university prospectus. Prof. Rizvi said: “The introduction of 14 new courses this year highlights the university’s commitment to academic excellence and to incorporating cutting-edge research and innovation in the teaching curriculum. These courses have been carefully designed to meet industry demands and provide students with cutting-edge knowledge in their respective fields. We have increased our entrance test centers so that students from far-flung places do not miss out on the opportunity to study at JMI. Many new facilities will now be offered to our students to ensure their holistic growth and development.”

Following the release of the prospectus, admissions to the academic session 2025-26 are now open for application. Interested candidates can access and download the prospectus, which is available at https://admission.jmi.ac.in. Prospective students can start applying through the university’s online admission portal and refer to the prospectus for admission-related queries.

The prospectus provides updated and comprehensive information about various undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes being offered by the university in the academic session 2025-26; their eligibility criteria, application deadlines, entrance test dates, course fees and duration, and other details, with a view to providing prospective students with a step-by-step guide to help navigate through the admission process.
