‘Paan’tastic: Chew paan of different flavours starting from Rs 50 to Rs 2,200 (video)
If you reside in Okhla and love relishing paan then you must have seen small corner shops selling paan (betel leaf). Of all in Jamia Nagar, this one in Abul Fazal Enclave just in front of Okhla Vihar Metro station is a different one as the shop’s look is different: swanky.
Owner of Delhi Paan Mahal Hamza said for paan lovers there are several flavours, like chocolate, butter scotch, kulfi and more.
He said ghundi paan is worth Rs 50 and is cold and can stay fresh for 15 days and is the most sought after among visitors. It is special paan from Kolkata. Sada paan is of Rs 20. Sona, chandi paan is of Rs 2,200, he said. Besides paan, one can also find liquid flavour of paan.
Hamza said the idea to open the shop came to him during his regular visit to one eatery in AFE. He said he realised that there was no swanky paan shop in the locality and people had to visit far away so he opened one to serve paan lovers.
Another staff at his shop said the price varies from Rs 50 to Rs 2,500 a special paan.
Classic meetha paan is also available.
A resident Javed Khan, who walked in to buy ghundi paan, said he loves the environment of the shop. “You can get several flavoured paans in this shop. I’m a big fan of ghundi paan,” he said.
