Amanatullah Vs Owaisi: Verbal clash intensifies, AIMIM’s Majid targets Amanatullah. Read the report…
With election season in full swing, tensions have escalated in Okhla, where incumbent MLA Amanatullah Khan and AIMIM’s Mohammed Majid Hussain have exchanged sharp verbal barbs. Majid is currently the MLA of Nampally Assembly in Telengana.
The feud began with Amanatullah Khan’s criticism of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi days ago, accusing him of aiding the BJP by fielding a candidate in Okhla so that he could be defeated.
Okhla’s political landscape: Amanatullah Vs Owaisi
Okhla, represented by Amanatullah Khan for two terms, is witnessing a heated contest. Alongside AIMIM’s Shifaur Rehman, Congress has fielded Ariba Khan, while BJP is represented by Manish Chaudhry. As the war of words continues, Okhla residents face a critical decision. Will they support Amanatullah Khan for a third term, or will the challenge from AIMIM and other candidates disrupt his tenure?
Tempers flare as Majid targets Amanatullah Khan
AIMIM MLA Majid from Hyderabad responded aggressively, delivering a fiery speech against Amanatullah Khan during a public event in Batla House. Majid took the stage to defend Asaduddin Owaisi, indirectly targeting Khan without naming him explicitly.
He stated: “This man, who looks like Shakti Kapoor, fed his family on our lands and now dares to speak against us. What is his worth compared to our leader? Amanatullah’s status isn’t even equal to the dust on Asaduddin Owaisi’s shoes. Our leader is a warrior who sacrifices for the people. Can Amanatullah claim the same about his leader, Arvind Kejriwal, who once expressed joy over the Ram Temple and blamed Muslims (Tablighi Jamaat) for COVID-19?”

Majid accused Khan of “land grabbing” and misusing funds meant for the poor. He urged Okhla’s residents to choose between AIMIM’s Shifaur Rehman and Amanatullah Khan, who he described as “corrupt and unworthy of re-election”.
Amanatullah early speech: MLA calls AIMIM a “vote-cutting party”
Days earlier, Amanatullah Khan had launched his own attack, accusing AIMIM of being a BJP ally aiming to divide Muslim votes. Speaking to supporters, he questioned Asaduddin Owaisi’s contributions during the Delhi riots, saying: “What sacrifices has Asaduddin made? He supports BJP by fielding candidates to split our votes. AIMIM’s presence here only serves to hand over this seat to the BJP. Okhla needs to think about its future — vote for those who have fought for you, not for vote-cutting parties.”
Khan further accused AIMIM of receiving funds from the BJP to defeat him and warned voters against wasting their votes on the party.
Supporters escalate rhetoric
The verbal battle didn’t end with Majid and Amanatullah. Supporters from both camps joined the fray, escalating the rhetoric. Amanatullah’s supporters accused AIMIM of being a BJP puppet, claiming that every rally organised by Owaisi’s party was funded by the BJP.
“He (Majid) called our MLA a dog. Asaduddin is a puppet of the BJP. Every rally he organises, every single one, is funded by the BJP. There’s no one more corrupt and disgraceful than him,” said Ashkar Hashmi.
One supporter remarked: “Owaisi stokes hatred among Muslims, while BJP fuels hatred among Hindus. We want politics of unity, not division. Hindus and Muslims should share the same plate, not be driven apart by leaders like Owaisi.”
On the other hand, AIMIM supporters claimed that Amanatullah Khan has been losing sleep ever since Asaduddin Owaisi’s roadshow in Zakir Nagar and rally in Shaheen Bagh. They argued that the large turnout at the event has shaken Opposition parties, including Amanatullah. Fearing a potential defeat in the election, they said, Amanatullah has resorted to targeting Owaisi and trying to scare residents by suggesting that a BJP victory is imminent unless he is re-elected for a third term.
