Chancellor Najma Heptulla on Jamia’s UPSC success and more

Governor of Manipur and Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia Dr Najma Heptulla congratulated 30 successful students of the Residential Coaching Academy (RCA),JMI for their selection in UPSC Civil Services 2019.

In her message to the university Dr Heptulla said: “I congratulate successful students, teachers and officials of the academy from the core of my heart as it is a matter of great pride for the university and me.”

The Chancellor also congratulated the Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar and university officials for the achievement.

Dr Heptulla said that the university achieved ‘outstanding performance’ in a performance evaluation done by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) recently and the success of RCA students is another feather in the cap. By this performance the university has lived up to the expectation.

She said: “It is a matter of great honour for the university that its residential coaching academy is producing maximum civil servants among all the public coaching centres run by various institutions and we expect that JMI will improve further”.

Since, 2010-11 till 2019 RCA has produced 230 Civil Servants including many in IAS,IFS and IPS. Besides, more than 285 students have also been selected in various other central and state services i.e., CAPF,IB, RBI (Grade B),  APF, Bank PO and PCS etc. This year 14 students of RCA have already joined J&K PCS, 24 students have qualified for UPPSC interview, and 15 students have qualified for interview in BPSC.

RCA was established in 2010 by the UGC under the aegis of Centre for Coaching and Career Planning (CC&CP), JMI to provide free coaching, and residential facilities to the students of SC, ST, Women, and Minorities for civil services and other competitive examinations. Students are selected for comprehensive coaching on the basis of an All India written test followed by individual interviews.
