1 dead, 2 injured in four-vehicle crash

A four-vehicle crash, involving RTV (Rural Transport Vehicle) bus, a rickshaw, an auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle in Okhla area led to death of one person, police said on Friday.

The rickshaw driver identified as Ismail, 40, was sent to ESI hospital where he was declared brought dead. Two people were injured in the multi-vehicle crash.

The police said it was on Friday when it received a PCR call in Okhla Police Station regarding an accident by a RTV at C Lal chowk, near Kalkaji Depot. After rushing to the spot, the police said it found one rickshaw, one motorcycle and an RTV.

One caller met the police team on the spot and stated that that the RTV driver lost the balance and hit a rickshaw, a TSR and then the motorcycle rider, a senior police officer said.

The auto-rickshaw driver, Suresh (35), a resident of Naveen Shahdara, and motorcycle rider Randhir (30), a resident of Bulandshahr in UP, were sent to AIIMS hospital for treatment, the officer said.

The RTV driver, Jyotirmoy Ghosh (26), a resident of Tughlakabad Extension, has been apprehended on the spot. Ghosh was not found under any influence of alcohol or intoxication. Legal action is being taken accordingly, police added.
