Humanity first: This mosque in Okhla plans to offer help to Covid patients, offer oxygen beds

As Covid cases see rise in Delhi and India, a mosque in Okhla plans to convert some parts of its area into Covid facility and offer oxygen beds.  According to a reliable source, as patients are pouring in Al-Shifa hospital there is need to for extra oxygen beds and a mosque in Jamaat-E-Islami (Hind) campus is planning to open its gates for the Covid patients.

A discussion regarding which is going and opinion from experts have been sought and most probably oxygen beds will be placed in the newly extended mosque (Isha’at e Islam Masjid) of JIH in a few days, said the source on the condition of anonymity.

It is reported that since the second wave many people in Okhla too have tested positive.  Welcoming the move, many strongly believe that a mosque is not merely a place of worship, it is supposed to be a community centre working for the welfare of the people.

The Isha’at e Islam Masjid has led from the front in the fight against Covid, urging namazis to come to mosque with mask, sanitizer and namaz mat.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, along with Health Minister Satyendar Jain, paid surprise visits to Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital, Burari Hospital, Radha Soami Satsang Beas and DRDO to take cognisance of the medical infrastructure amidst the new peak of coronavirus in the city.

The upsurge has called for a continuous escalation of beds. In view of the increasing cases of Covid-19 in Delhi, the Kejriwal government is increasing the number of beds at hospitals and other Covid care facilities.

Sisodia stated 5,000 oxygen beds will be ready in Delhi in the next few days. These beds are being installed in Radha Soami Satsang Beas. 500 oxygen beds will start here from Tuesday.

Sisodia further mentioned that the number of beds in every hospital is being continuously increased and ample number of oxygen beds are being set-up. He then stated that the hospitals are being asked to work at their maximum capacity and take all the necessary efforts.
