Why so many police were present at Jamia today, ask Okhla residents

The arrival of a large number of police at Jamia Millia Islamia turned out to be a cause of concern for many Okhla residents. A few who passed by the university today, wrote: “There were policemen at both the sides of the road extending till engineering gate at 1.19 pm.”

A student said a protest was called by Mewati students group in Jamia calling for justice for Junaid and Nasir. A student said other student groups were also present with the peaceful march starting from main canteen to gate number 7 after 1 pm.

Following the protest call, security was beefed up outside the campus with students taking out peaceful protest march inside the campus.

Junaid, 32 and Nasir, 25 were uncle and nephew to each other.

The deceased, Nasir (27) and Junaid (35) of Gopalgarh village in Bharatpur, were allegedly abducted by a group of ‘gau rakshaks’ (cow protectors) and their charred remains were found inside their Bolero vehicle recovered today from near the fields in Barwas village of Loharu sub-division in Bhiwani, reported tribuneindia.com.

Six detained after two Muslim men from Bharatpur burnt to death in Haryana, reported The Hindu.

A day after two Muslim men from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district were allegedly abducted and burnt to death in a car in Haryana, the Rajasthan Police on Friday detained six persons for interrogation in the case, reported the paper.
