MCD polls LIVE: Voter turnout till 10 

Voting for MCD election 2022 has begun and polling underway across Delhi, including five wards of Okhla. Around 9 per cent voter turnout recorded till 10:30 am, according to State Election Commission.

Residents started visiting their booths with parents from 8 am when the voting started and it is continue until 5 pm today. The fight is over 250 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

If the MCD polls are largely seen as a three-way contest in Delhi among the BJP, the AAP in Delhi in Okhla there is fight among Congress, AAP in AFE wards with AIMIM also surging ahead in the last few days. In Zakir Nagar, Congress sitting Councillor Shoaib Danish is trying his best to win his seat for the fourth time in a row.

In Sarita Vihar, sitting Councillor Nitu Manish Choudhary is trying her luck for the second time just like AAP’s Wajid Khan from AFE ward.

The election campaigning was held on garbage dump, bad roads, schools and other facilities in Okhla wards. Traffic jam, roadside encroachment also were major issues concerning residents of Jamia Nagar who are expecting the issues to be addressed.

The high-pitched campaign had come to an end on Friday afternoon.
