Masks return in public places as Delhi logs 1,009 Covid cases
Delhi on Wednesday logged 1,009 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours. With cases rising wearing mask has returned to public places and those violating the orders will be fined Rs 500.
As announced earlier, a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) chaired by the Lieutenant Governor was held today. In the meeting it was decided to enhance testing, focus on vaccination coverage of the targeted population and ensure strict enforcement of Covid appropriate behaviour.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Chief Secretary, AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria, Director of National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Dr SK Singh and other senior officers The DDMA has reportedly decided to impose a fine of Rs 500 for not wearing face masks in the national capital.
Schools would remain open for now.
However some schools in Nodia have written to the parents about online classes. A resident said he received a message from a school where his child studies in nursery: “Parent who is apprehensive about sending their child to offline class may opt for the online class. The timing of the class will be 7:30am to 8:30am. You can opt only for either offline or online mode. You must also send in your request for online mode…”
