Shaheen Bagh’s open manhole poses imminent threat to residents, many hurt in mishap
The open manhole in Shaheen Bagh poses imminent threat to residents who use this road regularly. Residents said the manhole has not been covered properly since work was done here for sewer laying, causing some mishaps. It was only a few days ago when an e-rickshaw got upside down after hitting the manhole with two passengers getting hurt, said a resident, adding that nothing serious happened.
Ironically, nobody is paying heed to it as the open manhole is on Shaheen Bagh 40 foota road which is a busy spot for food lovers and many residents. There are several big eateries on this road and only a few metres from here there is an office of a candidate, who is seeking ticket, said a resident on the condition of anonymity.
He said nobody is bothered and we don’t know what to do whether to pool money to get it fixed or wait for the authorities to get it repaired.
For many Okhla residents what has come as a surprise is that development issues don’t bother local leaders whether ticket seekers or incumbents. Residents lamented that crores of rupees were frittered away on illegal posters, banners defacing the wall of the locality for self promotion but nobody cared to fix these things which is very shocking.
