Sharing this information on Twitter, Amir Hannan wrote: “Today my friend Jitender Kumar lost the battle of his life…. He was in the ICU and took his last breath this evening. We studied together for 3 years at Jamia… He was Diploma Engineering student, 2020 batch pass-out.”

He tagged the post to Jamia official following which some university official also came to know about the incident.

The OT called Amir to know what really happened with 22-year-old Kumar.

“After passing out from Jamia he worked in Delhi for some months and then left for his hometown year ago during last Covid induced lockdown. We were in touch through social media and phone. And today we got a message in our group about his death. I was devastated and called on his number. His mother picked up the phone and informed me that Kumar is no more,” said Amir from Bihar, adding that the family told him that his cremation will take place tomorrow.

Polytechnic head Mumtaz Ahmed told the OT over phone that the news of the young student’s death is saddening. “He just passed out from the university. He was a good student and well behaved.”
