Jamia Millia Islamia has declared entrance test results of as many as 17 university programmes and released 12 admission lists of selected candidates of its 5 schools, as of today, June 17, 2025. In a massive, month-long exercise, the university conducted entrance examinations for various courses for the academic year 2025-26 from April 26 to May 30, 2025. In the months of March and April 2025, entrance tests for the various JMI-run schools were held concurrently in 5 cities, namely, Kolkata, Srinagar, Lucknow, Patna, and Delhi. This round of entrance exams culminated with that of JMI’s Residential Coaching Academy (RCA), which was administered on June 15, 2025, across 12 cities.

Prof. Mazhar Asif, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia, and Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar of JMI, congratulated the Office of the Controller of Examinations (CoE) for the smooth and time-bound conduct of entrance tests for the various schools, undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and other programmes being offered in the upcoming academic year.

Prof. Asif expressed his “satisfaction with the seamless and successful progress of this year’s massive admissions process and the timely declaration of the results” and congratulated Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Controller of Examinations, JMI, and Prof. Ahteshamul Haque, Deputy Controller of Examinations, JMI, as well as their entire team, for “their dedication, sincerity, and hard work, which made it possible.” Prof. Asif added, “Without a doubt, JMI has outperformed other universities given the scale of its examination exercise and pace of the declaration of results.”

Prof. Mahtab Rizvi said: “The entrance test results of a number of courses have already been released, and the rest will follow in the next few days. JMI has been far ahead of other universities in terms of conducting, assessing, and declaring results of its entrance tests — which have been administered to more than 1.2 lakh applicants in multi-city tests spread over 9 cities.”

Candidates can view their results on the JMI admission portal at https://admission.jmi.ac.in

Applicants are advised to check the portal for any further updates related to results, interview dates, and the next steps as part of the admission process at JMI, said the university.

In other development on the campus, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) yesterday organised a Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Technology Transfer, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) Innovation Cell and AICTE. The workshop witnessed participation from over 20 higher educational institutions, bringing together faculty members, researchers, students, and innovation leaders from across the region.

The programme commenced in the traditional spirit of Jamia Millia Islamia with Tilawat-e-Quran, followed by a warm welcome address by Prof. Rihan Khan Suri, Director – CIE and President – Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC 7.0). He emphasised the Centre’s commitment to fostering innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking within the academic community.

An enlightening session on the Initiatives of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and AICTE was conducted by  Abhishek Ranjan, Innovation Officer, MoE’s Innovation Cell. He discussed the national innovation framework, institutional support mechanisms, and the significant role of IICs in shaping India’s innovation ecosystem.

The Chief Guest, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar Jamia Millia Islamia, in his inaugural address, congratulated CIE for organizing an “impactful and brilliantly curated workshop on Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Transfer in collaboration with the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell and AICTE.”

“Understanding IPR is not just important — it is essential for every researcher, innovator, and budding entrepreneur. Protecting innovation through patents, copyrights, and trademarks is the first step toward creating sustainable, scalable solutions. While Jamia has several patents filed, a large number of innovations still await commercialization, primarily due to lack of awareness about IPR and tech transfer. I appreciate the support of the MoE’s Innovation Cell and AICTE in promoting this much-needed awareness,” Prof Rizvi added.

He also highlighted the workshop’s alignment with national flagship initiatives such as the National Education Policy (NEP), Startup India, Make in India, and the National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP), taken up by Jamia Millia Islamia urging institutions to strengthen mechanisms that translate academic research into real world impact.

Prof. Kafeel Ahmad, Dean, Research and Innovation, Jamia Millia Islamia, delivered an impactful talk on the importance of IPR and Technology Transfer in nation-building, inspiring participants to move from ideation to implementation.

Chavi Garg, Examiner of Patents & Designs, Indian Patent Office, New Delhi, conducted a comprehensive session on filing and processing Intellectual Property, offering insights into the patent lifecycle, documentation processes, and legal considerations.

An engaging and practical session on Technology Transfer was led by Pradeep Dhage, Assistant Innovation Director, Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell. He explained the pathways to commercialize academic research, build industry-academia linkages, and effectively utilize institutional innovation ecosystems.

In a special segment, students from different institutions showcased their innovative ideas and prototypes, reflecting the vibrant energy of India’s emerging startup culture.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. S. M. Muzakkir, Innovation Coordinator, who expressed deep appreciation to the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, AICTE, all speakers, institutions, and participants for their enthusiastic engagement and contributions.

The event reaffirmed Jamia Millia Islamia’s leadership in promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property awareness, while aligning academic excellence with national developmental goals, said the university.
