After much hue and cry on the social media over an advertisement on Jamia Millia Islamia bus stand, the poster has gone, said residents and some students on Monday.

It was 22 hours ago on Sunday when a photo of a Jamia student Imran Choudhary pasting picture of the Chief Proctor of Jamia on advertisement of a company showing women in skimpy dress literally went viral soliciting sixty one comments and more than 171 likes till the filing of the report with many congratulating him for doing a good job. Imran is a SP leader.

Later on AAP leader Khateeb Tihami too jumped in and did Facebook live from the spot on Sunday night. He said the advertisement was not in good taste and should have not been put on a bus stand mostly used by Jamia students. He accused the Jamia administration for allowing such advertisement on the bus stand.

Several attempts to solicit official comments from the university officials failed as nobody picked up the phone.

However, a few senior university teachers told the OT on the condition of anonymity that no doubt the photo in the advertisement was not in good taste and must have been avoided at a bus stop mostly used by students of the university, clarifying that the university has no jurisdiction over the bus stand.

The bust stand is used by Jamia students for DTC buses and is located on the common road used by local residents and students as well, said sources.

From time to time the advertisement is changed, they claimed.

Khateeb told the OT that when he reached the bus stand on Sunday night for doing Facebook live he saw university bulls removing photo of the Chief Proctor put on the advertisement.

It is not known who removed the advertisement.

Whenever the OT gets official version it will be updated here.
