After Jamaat supported AAP’s Wajid in MCD poll, its ‘affiliate’ body calls winner Cong’s Ariba for ice-breaking session

After supporting AAP’s Wajid Khan, who lost the in the MCD poll 2022 from Abul Fazal Enclave ward, Jamaat-e-Islami (Hind) affiliated body invited newly elected Councilor Ariba Khan for ice-breaking session in the conference hall of MMI Publishers on Wednesday.

JIH support had come for AAP at a time when across Muslim-dominated wards of Delhi there was resentment against the party for the way it “targeted” Tablighi Jamaat members during Covid, its silence over Bilkis Bano and Delhi riots, said one Okhla watcher on the condition of anonymity. In Okhla, the AAP could manage to win only one seat out of five.

And Ariba had come out with flying colours.

Women of various social organisations also participated into this get together.

The participants put forward their views regarding the issues of the locality.

Expressing his views, Umrul Hasan said getting sufficient funds from the MCD budget for the development of this ward should be the main target of the Councillor.

Imrul Qais of SIO stressed the need of a library in the area.

Monis Azmi drew the Councillor’s attention to the issues like cleanliness and drinking water in the area.

In her address, Aiba said she will raise problems in the newly formed MCD House and every possible effort will be made to solve the problems. She said after officially taking oath on January 6, she will be work to resolve all these issues. She said effective steps would be taken to solve the garbage issue.

She also assured to construct public toilets in the locality.

A memorandum signed by the participants was also handed over to Ariba in which not only the important points related to the problems of the area were presented, but also the overall outline of the solution to these issues also highlighted.

Society for Bright Future PR Zahid Afzal and others played an important role in organising this end.
