Met with Jamaat head, discussed national issues for 1 hour: Amanatullah; Is JeIH cosying up with AAP?
Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan said he met with Jamaat-e-Islami (Hind) today. He tweeted several photos of the meeting with JeIH Amir and wrote in Hindi that he had discussions with them on national issues for about one hour.

“आज अमीरे जमाअत ए इस्लामी हिंद से मुल्क की मौजूदा सूरते हाल और अक़्लियतों के मसाइल पर तक़रीबन 1 घंटे तक तफ़सीली बात चीत हुई ,इस मौक़े पर जमात के कई अहम मरकज़ी ज़िम्मेदाराना मौजूद रहे,” the MLA wrote.
The meeting happened a day after Jamaat invited Congress Councillor Ariba Khan to discuss local issues. The event was held by Jamaat affiliate body at its headquarters in Abul Fazal Enclave on Wednesday.
In the recently held MCD polls 2022, Jamaat supported AAP candidate, Wajid Khan. The sitting Councillor lost to Congress Ariba.
The Jamaat decision to support AAP then had come as a surprise for many in the locality. One Okhla watcher said when Muslims voted against the AAP for its treatment to Tablighi Jamaat members during Covid, silence on Bilkis Bano and its stand on Delhi riots here is JeIH which suppoted it for reasons best known to the religious body.
Jamaat call had no impact as AAP could only win 1 seat from Okhla’s 5 wards.
