Delhi govt instructs private hospitals to reserve 40% beds for Covid patients
As Covid cases in Delhi soars, the Delhi Government has directed private hospitals and nursing homes with 50 beds or more to reserve at least 40 per cent of their total beds for Covid patients.
“The keepers of all private hospitals/nursing homes having total bed capacity of 50 beds or more are directed to reserve at least 40 per cent of their total bed capacity (i.e. 40 per cent of ward bed capacity and 40 per cent of ICU bed capacity) for Covid patients,” the order read.
The new order has come in the background of the city seeing surge in cases with Delhi registering 5,481 Covid cases on Tuesday with the city announcing weekend lockdown to curb the spread of the highly transmissible Omicron.
Three deaths were reported in a day. The positivity rate has surged from 6.46 to 8.3 per cent in the capital.
