After 2 years, Holi makes colourful comeback

In post-pandemic time Holi for the first time in two years is being celebrated without any restriction. Residents in Okhla after the overnight Holika Dahan, celebrated the festival of colour with fervour and gaiety.

At Okhla Head and Nai Basti, residents were seen enjoying the festival of colour with their relatives and friends. Sweets and other delicacies were also distributed. Residents shared Holi wishes in the virtual world with friends and family members.

Aseem, who runs a foundation in Okhla, said he celebrated the festival of clour with his students at his Okhla Vihar office today.

On Thursday, Holi Rangotsav was organised at Sunder Nursery on the eve of Holi in collaboration with the Delhi government’s Sahitya Kala Parishad. The Rangotsav was organised by the Department of Art, Culture and Languages and puppet shows along with folk dances and musical performances by artists from different States of the country gave the message of unity in diversity.

Lathmar Holi of Braj and ‘Phoolon Ki Holi’ were other major attractions of the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said: “Holi as a festival brings smiles on the faces of people and gives them an opportunity to share the colours of happiness with each other with full enthusiasm. After two years, our lives are returning to normalcy and it’s time to embrace this colourful change. This will help us recover from the Covid onslaught that hit us hard over the past two years, when most of us were compelled to remain confined to our houses. Now when lives are gradually coming back on track, nothing can be better than welcoming it with Holi.”

Sisodia said after a long time, people want to come out of difficult times, smile, enjoy and get immersed in colours.

I always pray to god for their wellbeing and that such a colourless phase should not return again, he added. He said the specialty of Holi is that it erases all biases of caste-religious conflicts & ego clashes, and paints everyone in the colours of unity and brotherhood.

The Deputy Chief Minister said Holi remains incomplete until all the colours come together. So everyone should come together and enjoy this festival of happiness and play Holi freely. It is time to let go of the negative energies from our lives and start afresh post difficult times of the Covid, he said.
