But two brothers of Okhla have proved it wrong as they have cracked the NEET with flying colours without any coaching.
Jamia Nagar residents, Osama, 20 and Ghazanfar, 18, have cleared the NEET scoring 620 and 665 respectively to the delight of their parents and other family members.
Since the results were announced days ago, the youths’ father, Dr Moinuddin Ghazi, has been flooded with congratulatory messages. In an exclusive conversation with the OT, both the brothers, Hafiz-e-Quran, shared some valuable tips in cracking the NEET without any coaching.
Originally from Azamgarh, the boys studied in a Kerala school before settling in Okhla with their parents. After memorising Quran, Osama and Ghazanfar went to a school in Kerala where their father was working.
Osama who cracked NEET in third attempt and Ghazanfar in second attempt said their early attempts were unintentional. “In first attempt I scored 500 but then I was not satisfied and went for the second one and got good score,” said Ghazanfar.
Both the brothers said they studied together in their flat in Okhla and never took any coaching. Currently Osama is doing graduation from Jamia Millia Islamia.
“There is perception that without coaching you cannot crack NEET like tough exams. We don’t think like this. If one is ready to study hard then one can crack the exam. We studied for 8 hours daily for year and 12 hours for the last three months. We just concentrated on 6 books of NCERT….we didn’t read coaching modules. Throughout the preparation for the exam, we stayed away from devices. We didn’t use any device and watched no lectures on YouTube, which these days have become a must for many students.
“We went through previous years questions to understand the trend,” said the brothers, who are also associated with SIO.
The youths’ father said one can crack tough exams like NEET despite being a Hafiz.
