Video: Amanatullah plants saplings at Hari Kothi on Van Mahotsav week to curb pollution
Okhla MLA Amanatullha Khan carried out a tree plantation drive to mark the Van Mahotsav at the Hari Kothi divider road in Okhla.
The Delhi Government is organising a mega plantation drive under the Van Mahotsav programme from June 26 to July 11 to plant over 33 lakh saplings across the city.

Amanatullah and other MLAs in their areas have lunched the drive in their localities. They urged volunteers to carry out similar plantation drives at various places in Delhi to curb pollution.
Imran Hussain also did the same in his locality and said: “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi government has launched a war against air pollution. The Delhi Government has taken several steps to curb the air pollution in Delhi such as bringing the tree transplantation policy, anti-dust pollution campaign, electric vehicle policy, red light on-gaadi off campaign, and many others. The Delhi government is the first State Government to come up with a solution to stubble burning by using bio-decomposers.”
The Food and Civil Supplies Minister said: “The Delhi Government is organising a mega plantation drive under the Van Mahotsav programme from June 26 to July 11 2021 to plant over 33 lakh saplings across the city. In this mega plantation drive all the Cabinet Ministers of Delhi, all the MLAs, NGOs and RWA’s are actively participating which will effectively help in curbing the pollution in the city.”
Hussain lauded the efforts of the volunteers of the Lions Club and staff members of the college for their active participation in the mega plantation drive during Van Mahotsav and appreciated the Forest Department, GNCTD for providing free plant saplings. He also appealed to the volunteers to carry out a similar exercise at various places in Delhi to provide a green, healthy and pollution-free environment to the citizens of Delhi.
Transport Minister of Delhi, Kailash Gahlot, along with the family members and staff planted saplings at Rojokri Ridge Reserved Forest to mark the ongoing Van Mahotsav.
The Van Mahotsav programme was organised by the West Delhi Division of the Department of Forests & Wildlife, GNCTD. Ishwar Singh, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Nisheeth Saxena, Chief conservator of forest and other senior officials of the Forest Department were also present during the plantation drive.
In addition to the plantation work, the Minister also visited the Rajokari Pond to see the work of soil and moisture conservation work done by the Forest Department. He emphasised the importance of Foot patrolling in the conservation of Forest and Biodiversity and distributed Patrolling boots to field staff.
