Row over Gafoor Nagar road
A few minutes ago I got a call from Gafoor Nagar RWA that a gate is being put to block entry from Jamia Millia Islamia, said Councillor Shoaib Danish on Friday.
He said following the call he rushed to the spot and stopped the gate from being erected at the entrance as it would block entry to Gafoor Nagar from Jamia.
Also, Danish shared a few photos on his timeline and wrote: “I won’t let it happen.”
There is a road which leads to Gafoor Nagar from Jamia and the university has been planning to install a gate on the entrance with some residents opposing the move saying this would make things difficult for them as there is only one entry road and it is from Jamia, said sources.

After interacting with several university sources the OT learned that it is Jamia property. The university wants to install a gate at the entrance to secure its property with small gate to be opened for the residents at night, said sources, adding that at night locals from Shaheen Bagh park their vehicles here and the gate will stop illegal parking.
The move is to secure the university area and the university has all the right to do so, said sources requesting not to be quoted.
