Life was difficult until he got help from some people of Johri Farm, he said, adding that some residents known to him helped him buy an e-rickshaw and for the last two years, he said he has been driving it to earn his livelihood.

He said he met most of his beneficiaries at a local mosque in Johri Farm who crowd funded money for him.

He said initially after the accident as my leg was plastered, some residents provided me sewing machine to do work from home.

This is not the only case. Once an e-rickshaw driver told the OT that how a resident helped him buy a vehicle.

He said he used to teach Quran and Urdu to his beneficiary’s two children in Jamia Nagar.

“My students’ father was a kind person and during a conversation, he expressed concern over my livelihood. And it was he who suggested me to drive e-rickshaw to earn more and have a decent life. When I told him that I haven’t got enough money, he contributed a good amount and after which I lend money from friends and bought this e-rickshaw. I teach Quran and Urdu to people in the morning and in the evening I drive e-rickshaw,” he said.
