Elderly man on scooter falls into Abul Fazal Enclave nullah

An elderly man on scooter fell into open Abul Fazal Enclave nullah on Wednesday. Residents and workshop mechanics rushed in to provide him a helping hand. The elderly man was not injured. A resident, who was seen taking out his scooter with other residents, said while entering on this lane the elderly man’s paper fell into the water and without realising it was nullah the man tried to pick up while on scooter but he slipped and fell and the vehicle also went into the nullah.

“Actually as the surfaced is filled with floating garbage many newcomers to the locality think that there is no water or it is not so deep. That was the reason that this elderly man stopped to pick up his paper which had dropped from the scooter. And while doing so he fell into the nullah,” said a resident.

Many residents were seen helping him. The man after a few minutes of help was on his legs and thanked the residents for giving all the support. Such cases are rare as residents are well aware of the nullah and how deep it is and hence take extra precautions, said a resident.

The open nullah is used for garbage dumping and residents for years have been demanding for the nullah to be covered.
