Watch: The costliest goat this Eid at Batla House

The much-awaited goat market in Dhobi Ghat in Batla House has new visitors: Goats for Eid-al-Adha which is to be celebrated on July 10 this year.

And as the date gets near, residents will start visiting the goat market. This year the festival will be celebrated without any Covid lockdown and traders have started landing in the locality with some optimistic that they will get good price. Among many goats, one priced at Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand is the most costly goat till now.

A walk into the Dhobi Ghat in Batla House, which temporarily has been turned into Bakra Bazar, showed that traders in small numbers have arrived. Usually, the rate of these goats begins from Rs 10,000 onwards.

“It is too early to jump to any conclusion over the price of goats. One has to wait for a few more days to get the real picture and know whether the price of Wednesday night.

The good thing this time around is that the bakra market is buzzing ahead of Eid celebrations, said another resident.

Like every year, the price of goats depend on many factors, including breed, beauty, weight and buyers’ preference with some going for desi breed.
