    Ehtesham no more, Okhla mourns his death due to sudden heart attack

    The death of Ehtesham Hashmi of heart attack on Wednesday night is being mourned in Okhla with many netizens posting about it.

    “Shocking news! Supreme Court Advocate Ehtesham Hashmi passes away due to heart attack. Inna lillahe wa inna ilaihe rajeoon,” writes Shafique ul Hasan.

    Many residents also posted about his death on the social media. Ehtesham, who used to reside in Nizamuddin, was a popular figure in Okhla among activists and lawyers fraternity.
    Many who posted about him are not aware about his personal profile.

    After reaching out to several people, activist-turned politician Ameeque Jameei was able to share information.

    He said the death of Ehtesham has left all of us in deep shock.

    He died of heart attack and brain hemorrhage, said Ameeque, adding that the deceased, SC lawyer, was 38 years old. A lawyer, who knew him for years, said the deceased was 43 years old.

    Ehtesham was from Sagar in Madhya Pradesh from where he completed his education and came to settle in Delhi some ten years ago.

    His body is being taken to his hometown, said another resident, adding that he used to meet him at India Islamic Culture Centre from time to time.

    A Jamia alumnus who shared about him on the social media said he knew Ehtesham from TV debate.

    He was always more than ready to take up cases of the community and during debates on TV he used to argue with right perspective which is rare these days with many, he said.
