After being down for about two hours, the most popular messaging service WhatsApp is back up with some glitches. Restoration began by 2.15 pm, though users reported that it was not stable, reported NDTV.

A few minutes ago, the OT reported: WhatsApp is down for users in India and several parts of the world, according to users. “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible,” a Meta spokesperson said.

An Okhla-based resident said he is unable to send message and receive.

Following the development the company has said it is working to restore the instant messaging service which is very popular in Okhla with residents using it for sending photos and videos to friends.

Prominent online tool Down Detector started noticing unusually high “problem reports” at 12.07 pm, and had listed thousands of such reports by 1 pm in India, WhatsApp’s biggest market by user base. Most reports were about messages not going through, at 69 per cent, while others reported server disconnection and the app crashing altogether, according to NDTV.

It’s the first major WhatsApp outage since last year.

After the portal posted news on its portal, many users said they were able to send messages and other information and WhatsApp is back.
