Okhla stung by dengue again? 2-year-old Batla House baby latest victim

Though Delhi has seen a dip in dengue cases, according to media reports, still there are people who are down with dengue fever. In Okhla, a 2-year-old baby is latest victim of the vector-borne disease.

Anisur Rahman told the OT that his baby is not feeling and has dengue. His condition is improving as his platelet today is 1 lkah but he is not eating anything and having fever, he said. There are other residents too who are down with dengue.

Jasola-based Kalindi Hospital official told the OT that there have cases of dengue but they are mild and there is no need for hospitalisation. But many people get scared and rush to hospitals, he said, adding that people get recovered after a certain days. He said his 80-year-old father recovered from dengue by staying at home and getting right medical care. Rahman said his son is also getting treatment from a local doctor in Batla House.

According to the data shared by the municipal corporation department, 635 dengue cases have been reported in the month till October 12.

The vector-borne disease cases have reduced as compared to last week’s data which showed that 321 cases were reported till October 5.

The total cases have now reached 1,572 so far this year, said the civic body report released on Monday.

Many residents still recall dengue incidents in the locality some eight years ago when several Okhla residents had perished of the vector-borne disease. Of many who lost their relatives to dengue was one YouTuber Wasi Imam. His young brother had died after contracting the infection in Delhi.
