“Motive behind the rally was to make people aware about Covid-19 vaccination drive for a healthy society and spread a message to stay fit. Former Indian Cricketers Yashpal Sharma flagged off the rally,” it said.

Commissioner SDMC Gyanesh Bharti, Deputy Commissioner of South Zone Dr Sonal Swaroop and senior SDMC officials also participated in the rally.

The rally was started from the Zonal Office and then returned back after covering a distance of 5 kilometres, it said.

More than 200 cyclists following the norms of social distancing and Covid-19  appropriate behaviour started the ride and covered the total distance,  it said.

Commissioner Bharti, in his address, said the rally is being organised to disseminate the message of getting vaccinated for Covid-19 so that we all become resilient and get back to sports.

He said the SDMC has been running dozens of vaccination centres in all four zones hence we appeal people above 45 years to get vaccination as early as possible. He also appealed to people to follow norms related to Covid-19.

Dr Sonal Swaroop, DC South Zone, said the purpose of this Mega Rally is to urge people to engage themselves in sports once again after ensuring they are all vaccinated. She said turnout at the event is very encouraging.
