    Burglar arrested, Rs 13 lakh stolen articles recovered

    Burglar arrested, Rs 13 lakh stolen articles recovered

    A 32-year-old burglar was apprehended and stolen items worth Rs 13 lakh have been found from the accused possession, said the police.

    The alleged accused, identified as one Saidul from Sarita Vihar, had a history of involvement in 15 prior criminal cases, according to police.

    “On November 16, a complaint was received at the Jamia Nagar police station by a woman that she went to an outstation to attend a wedding programme and when they returned, she found theft of valuables items,” said Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav.

    Yadav said a FIR was filed at the Jamia Nagar police station in response to the complaint, initiating a subsequent investigation.

    The official said the authorities trawled the CCTV footage of the incident. Subsequently, the police identified the alleged accused, set a trap, and apprehended him.

    During the interrogation, the accused disclosed that he is grappling with drug addiction. He admitted to roaming in residential flats alongside his associates in pursuit of potential targets for house burglary, as revealed by the police.

    “The accused mostly select their targets in afternoon when the residents go outside the house and execute their plan in the night hours. With the arrest of the accused, two cases got worked-out and he had been involved in 15 criminal cases of house burglary, theft and the Arms Act. Further investigation against the accused has been started,” said the Special CP.

    Yadav said the police have recovered five laptops, 60 grams of gold jewelry, 11 mobile phones, 15 wristwatches, bridal attire, along with other valuable items. Furthermore, they seized a motorcycle and various tools that were employed in the commission of the crime.
