Another resident who also participated in the meeting said Amanatullah apologised and assured the gathering that such thing should not happen in the locality. Day after the meeting Hashmi told the OT that he also raised the issue of beating of local leader Anzarul Guddu during a live TV debate at Kalindi Kunj.

He said Wajid denied his involvement. However, Guddu has continued to insist that he was beaten by him and his men.

“In the last six months a few beating incidents with residents of Bihar have upset all of us. A few months ago a Bihar resident, who had gone to offer namaz in a Shaheen Bagh mosque, was thrashed mercilessly by the crowd for just offering sunnat when azaan was being recited. We want assurance from representatives that such incidents should not happen,” he said.

To win back AFE-Shaheen Bagh ward, Amanatullah and Wajid are desperate and they are trying all they could to convince Bihar residents, who resides in large number in the ward, to vote the AAP. Another resident who attended the meeting said there was crowd but it would be too early to jump to any conclusion whether residents of Bihar will back AAP in this MCD poll 2022.

The issue of beating of Guddu has been raised by Congress leader Asif Md Khan outside Tayyab Masjid a few days ago. An Okhla watcher said both Asif and Amanatullah are doing their best to get support of residents of Bihar.
