Former Congress MLA Asif Mohammad Khan has been arrested by Delhi Police for assaulting and misbehaving with cops, reported the media. Asif’s daughter Areeba Khan is Congress candidate from Shaheen Bagh-Abul Fazal Encalve ward. AAP’s Wajid Khan is sitting Councillor.
The police said Asif allegedly “abused” a police officer in the Shaheen Bagh when he was questioned for holding a gathering without permission from the State Election Commission, news agency PTI reported.
The police said: “The main accused, former Congress MLA Asif Mohd Khan has been arrested. FIR registered at Shaheen Bagh Police Station. Two others Minhaaz and Saabir have also been detained while arresting the accused. Their role in the above FIR is being examined.”
MCD polls in Delhi are scheduled to take place on December 4 and the counting of votes polled will be done on December 7.
