“I am here to oppose the anti-Muslim mentality prevailing in the country. Now when the case is in the court, Amanatullah will fight charges against him by the ACB after getting out on bail, but right now it is our duty to stand by the family at the time of crisis. My sole purpose to visit his house in Batla House is to send a message to the family that he is always there,” he said.

Amanatullah has been arrested by the ACB, which had summoned him on Friday, in a case pertaining to alleged financial misappropriation and other irregularities in the functioning of the Delhi Waqf Board. Amanatullah was remanded to four-day police custody after raids were conducted in several places in Okhla by the ABC team.

Asif said anybody in Okhla who is not with Amanatullah right now is only trying to strengthen divisive forces. There is under the grip of fear and roads close to the MLA house is wearing a deserted look, said Asif, adding that after several more arrests being made for obstructing the raiding party of ACB during the official discharge of their duty many don’t known about their fate.

Asif’s move has come a day after another Congress youth leader Parvez Alam Khan told the media that the action was taken on his complaint filed three years ago. “I didn’t go to court and another person of Old Delhi went to the court and then it was after which an enquiry was held and then arrest made,” he said.

My fight is against corruption and I have no personal agenda against anyone, he said.
