Covid warrior Aqsa tests Covid positive
Covid warrior Aqsa Shaikh, who runs a centre in Zakir Nagar and was very active during second Covid wave which had devastated Delhi, has tested Covid positive.
“After having high fever and cough, I went for a test and I was Covid positive. I have mild symptoms and I am in home isolation,” said 39-year-old Dr Aqsa, who has taken both doses of the Covid vaccine.
“I am Covid Positive. I met Swara Bhaskar in my dream last night. And now read that she is also Covid Positive. Does Covid spread through dreams? Grinning face with smiling eyes. Get well soon dear,” she tweeted a day ago.
She is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Community Medicine at Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Jamia Hamdard.
She takes keen interest in the topic of transgender health and rights, Medical Ethics, and Medical Humanities.
In 2021, she became first transgender person to head anti-Covid vaccine centre in India. She was also one of the co-investigators in clinical trials on the Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine.
In the last few days Delhi has seen Covid surge with many people testing positive, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi is likely to record 20,000 Covid-19 cases today and the positivity rate is to be around 19 per cent, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said. Delhi recorded 48 new Omicron cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 513.
On Friday, the city registered 17,335 fresh infections and nine deaths. The positivity rate in the city also climbed to 17.73 per cent, according to health bulletin.
