Are you afraid of using computers or find it hard to handle laptops and desktops? If yes, then there is good news for you: Google has decided to introduce the Android system in laptops and desktops as well. This means that working with computers will be as easy as browsing on mobile phones.

Until now, Google’s Android system was limited to smartphones and tablets. However, the company is working with Qualcomm to bring it to PCs and laptops as well. Google and Qualcomm showcased this project at the Snapdragon Summit. Speaking on the occasion, Google Senior Vice President Rick Osterloh said: “ In the past, we’ve always had very different systems between what we are building on PCs and what we are building on smartphones. We’ve embarked on a project to combine that.”

Rick Osterloh also said Google is also trying to bring its AI stack to PCs. He explained that Gemini models, Assistant, and Google apps will now be part of the PC domain. He said that this will make Android applicable across all computing categories. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon also expressed enthusiasm for the project. He said, “ I’ve seen it, it is incredible. It delivers on the vision of convergence of mobile and PC. I can’t wait to have one.”

According to reports, Google has been working on merging Android and Chrome OS for quite some time. Last year, Android Authority reported that Google had launched a multi-year project in this direction. Earlier this year, a company official also confirmed this integration. Google’s open discussion on this issue indicates that the company is very close to launch.

According to reports, the new devices will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets. These chipsets are specifically designed for AI and mobility. Google intends to provide Gemini AI, Google Assistant, and its entire app ecosystem in these PCs. It is believed that these devices will initially target the budget market, similar to the first Chromebooks introduced.

Meanwhile, speculation is also rife about Pixel-branded laptops. Although Google has not made any official statement on this, the company’s steps in this direction have been clearly visible in recent months.

Google’s aim is to provide a better experience for laptop and tablet users. According to a TechRadar report, Google’s new hybrid platform is part of this thinking. A Google official stated that the company is interested in understanding how people use laptops and is designing the system based on this.

This new move will also benefit developers. They will gain more users and increase revenue from apps because as per reports about 95 percent of mobile phone users use android system.
